Overview
The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Ministry of Education (formerly known as the Ministry of Human Resource Development) to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India. The scheme aims to promote higher education in the NER and encourage students from economically weaker sections to pursue higher studies.

Ishan Uday Scholarship 2023: Eligibility
To be eligible for the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme, students must meet the following criteria:
- Domicile of NER: Students must have a domicile of NER, which means they must be permanent residents of one of the eight NER states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
- Educational Qualification: Students must have passed Class XII or equivalent examination from a recognized board of education within NER.
- Course of Study: Students must be pursuing their first year of undergraduate (UG) studies in general degree, technical, or professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses, in universities/colleges/institutions recognized under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.
- Family Income: Students must come from families with an annual income of not more than Rs.4.5 lakhs.

Ishan Uday Scholarship 2023: Scholarship Amount
The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme provides a monthly scholarship of Rs.5,400/- for general degree courses and Rs.7,800/- for technical and professional courses (including medical & para-medical courses) to the beneficiary students. The scholarship is paid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary student’s bank account.

To apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme, follow these steps:
- Visit the National Scholarship Portal: Go to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal (https://scholarships.gov.in/) and create an account if you don’t already have one.
- Click on “Fresh Application” and select “Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme” from the list of scholarships.
- Read the instructions carefully and fill in the required details. The application form will ask for personal information, educational details, and family income details.
- Upload the necessary documents: Make sure you have scanned copies of the following documents ready to upload:
- Domicile certificate
- Income certificate
- Aadhaar card
- Marksheet of Class XII examination
- Joining Proforma for fresh awardees (Annexure-I)
- Proforma for renewal (Annexure-II)
- Domicile State Certificate by the Competent Authority
- Quarterly Continuation Certificate (Annexure-III)
- Affidavit (Undertaking for not availing any other Scholarship in the form of an affidavit on Rs.50/- Stamp paper from the student/parent duly attested by SDM/ First Class Magistrate/ Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar) copying the prescribed languages (Annexure-IV)
- Review and submit the application: Once you have filled in all the details and uploaded the required documents, review your application carefully to ensure there are no errors. Then, click on the “Submit” button to submit your application.
- Take a printout of the application form and acknowledgment slip. Keep a copy of the application form and acknowledgment slip for your records.
- Submit the printed application form to your institute: Once you have submitted your online application, take a printout of the application form and acknowledgment slip and submit them to your institute or college. They will verify your documents and forward your application to the concerned authority for further processing.
